Juventus Hero Fabio Miretti Delighted with Maiden Serie A Goal

After scoring in every youth category at the club while enjoying his rise through the ranks, Fabio Miretti scored his first Serie A goal for Juventus against Fiorentina. It wasn’t an ordinary strike, considering it helped Massimiliano Allegri’s side beat La Viola 1-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and maintain the stranglehold on pacesetters Inter.

Though the better team lost tonight, Juventus displayed unparalleled defensive discipline and commitment to preserve a slender lead and take home three points. Miretti, who opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a delightful side-foot finish, is over the moon after getting off the mark in Serie A.

I’ve been waiting for it for a long time, but the important thing is to have won the three points. I hope that now more goals will come. I am looking for continuity. Claudio Marchisio has written to me many times to encourage me to score, and I thank him so much,” the highly-rated Juventus midfielder said after the game, as quoted by TMW.

Juventus hardly deserved their first Serie A win in Tuscany since December 2018. However, agonizing victories have been their thing under Allegri. Tonight’s success was their third consecutive 1-0 triumph following narrow wins against Milan and Hellas Verona.

Whether fans like their style or not, Juventus are firmly back in the Scudetto picture. They sit only two points below top-placed Inter, and without the distraction of European football, they seem well-positioned to arrest a three-year title drought.
