Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero thinks Milan have what it takes to upset Inter in the first Derby della Madonnina of the new season. The Rossoneri sit one point behind their great rivals coming into the match, but Pinturicchio believes the match is a great way for them to respond in a bid for their second straight Scudetto.
Speaking to Sky Calcio Club (via MilanNews), the iconic Italian forward threw light upon Milan’s ascendancy from the start of last season.
“Honestly, at the beginning of last season, no one expected Milan to win the title. They took it, they were great and did an extraordinary thing. Their reaction from an emotional point of view and on the pitch made it possible. Handling success is a separate chapter – it is something that you build and live through in a different way.”
Discussing further, Del Piero backed Milan to bounce back after their stalemate against Sassuolo in Emilia-Romagna.
“This blow puts them in a position of having to bounce back, and I think they will manage in the next match. Falling occasionally is also good, but it depends on how you get up.”
Inter have won seven of their previous eight Serie A outings, but they will face a stern Milan side who have kept more clean sheets (14) in 2022 than any other side in the top-five European leagues.
