Juventus Icon Del Piero Praises Rivals Inter and Thuram

Alessandro Del Piero has praised Inter for their development over the past season, pointing out the presence of newcomer Marcus Thuram as pivotal.

Speaking to Sky Italia (via Tuttomercatoweb), the Juventus icon couldn’t help but point out the Nerazzurri’s capabilities, with Thuram at the forefront of attack alongside Lautaro Martinez.

“I saw him as a child, he is an extraordinary boy in terms of commitment and determination. After a somewhat difficult start, he scores every Sunday and makes the difference now.”

Inter lifted just the Coppa Italia last season and came closest in the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City. Del Piero believes Simone Inzaghi’s men have learnt their lesson from the close call in Turkey.

“Their midfield is extraordinary. Inter play like champions, even if they didn’t win either the Scudetto or the Champions League. They have gained awareness from Istanbul.”

Inter have collected 25 points in the first 10 matchdays of the championship. Only twice have the Nerazzurri started better in the era for three-points-for-a-win in Serie A – in 1997/9 and 2017/18, gaining 26 points each time.
