Former Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci expects his beloved club to blossom under the leadership of new manager Thiago Motta. Excited about the squad overhaul conducted by the ex-Bologna boss, Bonucci delivered his verdict on the team’s chances of returning in the Scudetto frame.
“Staying away from Juventus, emotionally speaking, is impossible for me,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia. “It was and is part of my football faith.“
The EURO 2020 winner expects Juventus to play exciting football and entertain their fans after Massimiliano Allegri’s nightmarish three-year regime.
“Thiago Motta has a strong squad, one that has improved with the purchases made,” the former Juventus stalwart said. “He will entertain us and I hope he can return to fighting for the Scudetto, right from the start and until the very end.
“I am sure he will demonstrate his value. He has the hallmarks of a great coach.“
In addition to praising Motta, Bonucci offered unsettled Juventus winger Federico Chiesa a piece of advice amidst his uncertain future at the Allianz Stadium.
“I think he needs to understand what it is that he wants. In recent years, he had difficulties in terms of physicality and character, now he needs to take another step to become a top player. I hope he will be at Juventus,” the ex-defender concluded.
Widely expected to leave Juventus in the coming weeks, Chiesa has yet to clarify his ambitions. Things didn’t work well for him under Allegri, and the early prognosis suggests Motta isn’t a fan of the Italy international.
