Juventus Icon Hints at Potential Turin Reunion

Alessandro Del Piero parted ways with Juventus in 2012, but he has forever stayed in the hearts of all Bianconeri supporters. Twelve years after leaving Turin, the 49-year-old has hinted at a potential return to the club, where he spent 19 years during his illustrious playing career.

Del Piero was with Juventus through thick and thin. He was a rare player to confirm his allegiance to the club despite their infamous relegation to Serie B in the wake of the notorious Calciopoli scandal. The former forward’s loyalty received a fitting reward in his final season at the Allianz Stadium as he captained Juventus to his sixth Scudetto in 2011/12.

One of Juventus’ all-time greats has recently acquired a coaching license. However, he doesn’t see himself in this role yet.

I miss football every day. I would like to go back in time. I’m happy with what I’m doing now. I have no regrets. I took the coaching license, even if for the moment, I would not like to play this role,” Del Piero said, as reported by Calciomercato.

Instead, Del Piero fancies a return to Juventus, looking to become another former Serie A legend to join their old clubs’ technical staff.

What happened between me and Juventus, in that period of time, has not happened to any other player before. Someone who became a legend at Juve, who also played in Serie B, who came back and won again,” Del Piero stated.

See me at the club in the future? Yes, I would like to. It’s my club. I think it has to be something natural, that it has to come from Juventus. In my opinion, it is good to have within the club those who know the mentality well, the fans, but I am not the type who decides. I’m thinking of Maldini at Milan, Totti at Roma, or even Zanetti and what he’s doing now at Inter.
