Juventus in Danger of Losing Young Defender as Extension Talks Stall

Juventus risk losing young defender Radu Dragusin for nothing as so far they have been unable to reach agreement to extend his contract, which expires in June. The problem is not related to the wages, but to their technical project as he would like some certainties about his place within the team, Gazzetta dello Sport’s transfer market expert Carlo Laudisa reported. In the meantime, few foreign teams would be ready to pounce if the negotiation fell through.

The center-back, who just turned 19, has debuted in Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League earlier in the season. However, after some of his more experienced teammates recovered from injuries, he headed back to the U-23 side, where he has recorded 5 total appearances during the campaign and 3 straight in February, scoring his first professional goal against Albinoleffe.

His agent Pablo Bentancur informed the management that his client does not want to be loaned out or used as a bargaining chip in other packages if he renews his deal until 2025 and would prefer being a regular in the first team.

Dragusin has drawn interest from RB Leipzig, which are looking to make an addition in that role after Dalot Upamecano was poached by Bayern Munich, from Newcastle and Crystal Palace in Premier League. Juventus director Fabio Paratici is reportedly inclined to satisfy the requests of the footballer, who has gained the trust of Andrea Pirlo. However, the clock is ticking and the danger of other clubs swooping with over-the-top offers is real, the publication added.
