Juventus In Precarious Spot After Revealing Decision on Chiesa

Federico Chiesa’s future has become a hot topic in Serie A after Juventus boss Thiago Motta announced the club’s decision to sell the quicksilver forward. According to Calciomercato, the Bianconeri could fall victim to Motta’s reckless statement after a pre-season friendly against Brest.

Motta’s acknowledgment of the club’s stance on Cheisa could force Juventus to negotiate the Italian’s exit on unfavorable terms. They hope to earn around €25-30 million from the 26-year-old’s departure. But with the clock ticking away, Cristiano Giuntoli risks losing one of his most prized assets in a bargain deal.

Chiesa’s contract at Juventus expires next summer. There’s no point keeping hold of an unsettled player, so the record-time Serie A champions are desperate to offload the former Fiorentina ace in the coming weeks. Despite Chiesa’s decline in Turin, there’s no shortage of suitors for the pacey winger.

Inter and Napoli are among the most genuine admirers, with several high-profile clubs from abroad closely monitoring the developments at the Allianz Stadium. After Motta’s announcement, Simone Inzaghi’s men have decided to pursue Chiesa’s signature with more determination. But they’re expecting Juventus to reduce their demands.

It may well have to happen. Juventus paid Fiorentina €12.6m to get Chiesa on loan in 2020, with the obligation to buy for a further €44.6m two years later. On top of that, they’ve handed the player a lucrative contract worth €5m per season, which means the absolute minimum figure they must earn not to make a net loss is €14.9m.
