Juventus Interested in Highly-Touted Benfica Prodigy

Cher Ndour left Italy at a young age to move to Benfica, but he might head back in the summer, as Juventus are tracking him for a possible Bosman move. His contract expires in 2023, and a few sides are waiting in the wings.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri have scouted him very closely and are ready to table an offer if he doesn’t re-up with the Portuguese club. The 18-year-old has exclusively played with the youth and second teams so far. He has registered 40 appearances, scoring 4 times, in Liga Sabseg.

Juventus already tried to put Ndour under contract when he was younger, but he elected to leave the country to facilitate his growth. For his role and physique, he has drawn comparisons with Paul Pogba, who’s also his idol. The Old Lady is plotting a gradual insertion into the first side, exploiting their Next Gen squad at first, as they have done with multiple youngsters.

The prospect was born in Brescia and got his start with the local team before transferring to the more established Atalanta’s youth academy. Benfica convinced him to join in 2020. He has three caps with Italy U-20.

Our Take on Juventus Eyeing Ndour

The Bianconeri already have a few talents in the same role, but the more, the merrier. He’s stylistically different from their current ones, plus he’s likely a couple of seasons away from being a regular contributor. The opportunity to potentially add him on a free is surely enticing.
