Juventus Interested in Young Genoa Fullback for the Future

Juventus have started to track Genoa revelation Andrea Cambiaso. The Bianconeri wish to bring in more Italian talents and have been impressed by the versatility of the 20-year-old. Even if their pursuit were successful, it would not be an immediate addition, Sky Sport reports.

The fullback has turned heads in his first season in Serie A. He has been a full-time starter right away, tallying one goal and four assists. He is ambidextrous and can feature on either flank indifferently. The youngster extensively paid his dues in the lower leagues in previous campaigns. He spent time at Albissola, Savona, Alessandria and Empoli since 2017, climbing the the Italian football pyramid.

Cambiaso has drawn the attention of Juventus and others especially because he has yet to agree to an extension since bursting onto the scenes. He is under contract only until 2023, which makes him an easy target for bigger clubs. Inter are also watching him attentively.

The Bianconeri have major uncertainty in those roles. Danilo and Luca Pellegrini are the only contributors tied to the club long-term. Juan Cuadrado and Mattia De Sciglio have only a few months left on their deals. The front office has been in talks with the former and holds an option to tack on one more year. Moreover, they have been trying to offload Alex Sandro and his massive wages.

Depending on what happens with their current options, Juventus could decide to acquire Cambiaso and let him gain experience at Genoa, as they previously did with Nicolò Rovella.
