Juventus Keep Close Tabs on Barcelona Midfield Outcast De Jong

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong is currently frustrated with his treatment at the club, especially with regard to playing time, as manager Xavi Hernandez has so far chosen to opt for starlets Pedri and Gavi in the middle of the pitch instead alongside veteran Sergio Busquets.

The Dutchman is evidently not part of the manager’s tactical plans, at least for the moment, making his exit more likely in the upcoming transfer window.

Calciomercatweb.it report the presence of Juventus in line for De Jong’s signature despite his contract with the Blaugrana expiring in the summer of 2026. Having identified him as the ideal profile for the central midfield role, the Bianconeri could be able to offer the Dutch international what he wants – a regular place in the starting eleven.

However, he will not arrive cheap, as the Spaniards will not accept anything less than €70M as a transfer fee – an amount the Bianconeri may not be able to afford. Manchester United are also contenders for his signature.

Massimiliano Allegri has been in the crosshairs of much criticism following disappointing results on both domestic and continental fronts. Juventus added several top players in their roster, including midfielders Angel DI Maria, Paul Pogba, Filip Kostic and Leandro Paredes among others. Nevertheless, they have suffered tactically since the start of the season.
