Juventus Laying Groundwork for Top Midfield Signing

Juventus could be working behind the scenes to reinforce their depleted squad amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of several fringe stars. According to Tuttosport, the record-time Serie A champions are moving in the shadows, hoping to capture the highly-rated Lazio playmaker Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Milinkovic-Savic’s future has been among the major talking points this summer as he looks closer to leaving Lazio than ever. Down to the final year of his deal at the Stadio Olimpico, the 28-year-old has grown into one of the most wanted properties in Europe, let alone Serie A.

Since he’s shown little intent regarding a new contact, Lazio chief Claudio Lotito has a simple choice to make. He can either cash in on his talismanic midfielder in the coming weeks or run the risk of losing him for free in 12 months. Juventus are familiar with the situation and are ready to exploit it.

Arthur Melo, Weston McKennie, and Denis Zakaria have made the chopping block. Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri doesn’t count on them. He has instructed his Juventus superiors to offload the out-of-favor trio so he can raise funds to finance Milinkovic-Savic’s arrival.

Convincing the Serb to come on board should be an easy part. His countrymen Filip Kostic and Dusan Vlahovic could help, provided the latter stay at Juventus amid growing speculation linking him with a big-money departure.

On top of that, Milinkovic-Savic seems to have already identified Juventus as a perfect landing spot. Despite attracting lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, he has settled well in Serie A and doesn’t look for a change of air. If only can the Bianconeri overcome Lazio’s significant asking price for their marquee midfielder
