Juventus Looking to Accelerate Talks for Barcelona Midfielder

Juventus have identified Barcelona outcast Franck Kessie as their primary target to strengthen the midfield area. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italians plan to intensify talks to bring the Ivory Coast international back to Serie A in the coming days.

Kessie’s intention remains the same, though. He’s reluctant to leave Barcelona despite his irregular playing time. The 26-year-old made just one La Liga start for Xavi Hernandez’s side last season. He continues to be a bit-part player at Camp Nou, but that doesn’t seem to bother him.

Juventus are ready to give him an exit route, nonetheless. Kessie used to be one of the best-performing Serie A midfielders. During his five-year career at Milan, he earned a reputation as a top-class box-to-box performer. However, things have not worked out well at Barcelona.

Several Premier League sides have tried to prise him away from La Liga this summer. Yet, Kessie has rebuffed every approach to stay at Barca. Juventus could change his mind, as they’re willing to offer him a regular starting role at the Allianz Stadium.

With Arthur Melo one step away from joining Fiorentina on loan and Weston McKennie put up for sale, Massimiliano Allegri is on the lookout for midfield reinforcements. Kessie fits the profile, but Juventus may need all hands on deck to convince the ex-Atalanta to cut ties with Barcelona.

Unlike the player, his employers hope for a breakup. They’ve already made it clear they’ll listen to offers for their fringe star. So Juventus have legitimate chances of pulling off a deal.
