Juventus Looking to Pip Inter to Romelu Lukaku’s Signature

Juventus have reportedly established contact with Chelsea to hijack Romelu Lukaku’s expected return to Inter. According to Sky Sports, the record-time Serie A champions have opened talks with the Blues over the 30-year-old striker amid the Nerazzurri’s effort to bring him back to Giuseppe Meazza.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter following a dreadful comeback campaign at Stamford Bridge in 2021/22. However, a lack of funds has forced Beppe Marotta & co to relinquish a permanent deal. They had hoped to take the Belgium international back on another temporary agreement.

But Chelsea won’t allow another loan as they look to recoup a portion of the £97.5 million they splashed out to sign Lukaku from Inter in 2021. While the Nerazzurri are trying to raise funds from player sales, Juventus could seize the opportunity to steal the ex-Manchester United flop right under their noses.

Dusan Vlahovic’s future in Turin remains uncertain. Juventus are open to letting their prized asset leave for a satisfying bid. But they’ve yet to receive a concrete proposal for the Serbian marksman. His potential departure would fill the club’s coffers and give them enough ammunition to pursue Lukaku’s signature.

Meanwhile, Chelsea deemed Inter’s opening bid worth around €30 million insufficient. Since they cannot improve that offer drastically unless they sanction Andre Onana’s switch to Man Utd soon, Juventus could be Lukaku’s next destination.

Lukaku has already turned down a lucrative proposal from Saudi Arabia as he wants to stay in Europe.
