Juventus Looking to Pip Milan at the Post in Race for Brazilian Prodigy

Juventus have overtaken the competition to sign Kaio Jorge, although further plot twists can not be ruled out. They sent a letter to Santos indicating that they have opened talks with the striker to sign him on a free in January. In reality, they have already reached an agreement on personal terms, Sportitalia reports.

The Bianconeri now have to decide between trying to sign him right away or wait it out. The Brazilian club would rather sell him to Benfica, which made the most substantial offer. However, the player prefers moving to Italy, La Repubblica reports.

Juventus could be willing to put a couple of millions on the table to acquire him in the summer window. But it might not be enough to convince Santos, Goal.com informs. The Bianconeri will attempt to negotiate the fee, but they can easily delay the signing to the winter, paying only the commissions.

President Andrés Rueda openly stated in recent days that they had received a formal bid. He was referring to Benfica, which, however, has not come to terms with the 19-year-old forward. Milan had done something similar to Juventus, speaking directly to his agents. They do not want to participate in a bidding war and are waiting for signals from his entourage, Calciomercato.com reports. They believed to have the starlet in hand before the Bianconeri’s blitz.

Both Serie A sides are lowballing Santos given the player’s contractual situation. Therefore, the starlet is more likely to move to the Peninsula in 2022, with the Old Lady currently in the lead.
