Juventus manager Thiago Motta has refused to slam the door shut for Adrien Rabiot’s shock return to the Allianz Stadium. The French midfielder ended his five-year stint in Turin at the end of last season after letting his contract run down.
Rabiot was a significant first-team star at Juventus before turning down the club’s proposal to extend his deal in June. Despite his unquestionable qualities, the 29-year-old has yet to find a new club. His monstrous wage demands have deterred potential suitors thus far.
As a result, an unexpected return to Juventus has emerged as a genuine possibility for Juventus. However, the record-time Italian champions have moved on since parting ways with the ex-Paris Saint-Germain playmaker, heavily reinforcing Motta’s midfield options.
In addition to Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz, Juventus signed Teun Koopmeiners toward the end of the summer transfer window. Motta’s new-look midfield looks formidable, and it’s almost impossible to expect the Bianconeri to welcome Rabiot back.
But, Motta failed to deliver an unambiguous response when asked about the possibility of Rabiot’s comeback.
“Closed doors for Rabiot? Too many assumptions,” the Juventus boss said, as reported by TMW. “First of all, he didn’t call me. I wish him the best and that he’s happy. I love him as a boy. I hope he can find a team where he can be happy and show his talent.”
As Rabiot’s search for a new arrangement continues, Juventus head to Stadio Carlo Castellani to lock horns with Empoli on Saturday.
