Juventus Midfielder Changes His Mind but the Club Eyes a Replacement

Aaron Ramsey is widely considered the most likely Juventus midfielder to leave in the summer. The player himself hinted at a departure, citing his struggles in Turin. However, his entourage recently made it known that he would like to stay and work again under Massimiliano Allegri.

The former Gunner has two years left on his lucrative contract after joining as a free agent. He believes that he would play in his most natural position as box-to-box with the returning boss at the helm. Moreover, he hopes to finally stay healthy after some challenging seasons in that respect, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport UK informed.

Ramsey has drawn interest from Premier League clubs, West Ham and Crystal Palace in particular, but nothing too advanced. His €7M salary represents an issue both for Juventus and the suitors. As part of his contract, his agents would get a €2.8M commission if he remained in Turin.

Despite some recent reports, the Welshman not moving would not block the acquisition of Manuel Locatelli. The second, and likely deciding, meeting with Sassuolo may not happen this week after all. On the other hand, Juventus probably would decide against adding a further midfielder with Ramsey still on the payroll.

The Bianconeri have joined the long list of teams chasing after Lille’s Renato Sanches. He has a €30M price tag and is significantly more attainable than their pipe dreams Paul Pogba and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. A highly-rated prospect when he was younger, the Portuguese international has fully developed last season with the French champions.
