Juventus Misfit Set to Join Bournemouth for €18m

Juventus out-of-favor defender Dean Huijsen is closing in on his permanent transfer to Premier League side Bournemouth. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old will undergo medical at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday before penning a multi-year contract in Boscombe.

Huijsen’s switch to Bournemouth will unlock Bianconeri’s pursuit of OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. Juventus will earn around €15 million plus €3m in add-ons for the Spain U21 international. They’ll use those funds to bring the Frenchman to the Allianz Stadium.

Despite faring well during his short-term loan at Roma in the second half of last season, Huijsen failed to convince new Juventus head coach Thiago Motta to give him the benefit of the doubt. Bournemouth have closed the deal to take him to England relatively quickly.

Since the Cherries are currently in the United States for a pre-season warm-up, the outgoing Juventus defender will probably fly across the ocean to link up with Andoni Iraola’s squad. Huijsen’s exit has come too late for the Italian powerhouse’s hopes to land Riccardo Calafiori.

Motta was desperate to make his Bologna pupil his marquee defensive signing this summer. However, Juventus have lost that race to Arsenal, with the Gunners sorting out the final details with the Rossoblu on Thursday to secure Calafiori’s signature.

Calafiori’s rejection has forced Juventus to turn their attention to Todibo. The former Barcelona flop is enthusiastic about moving to Turin, and Motta’s men now have the funds to strike a deal with Nice.
