Juventus, Napoli and Barcelona Tracking Lyon Defender

Juventus will probably add another defender, preferably for cheap, next summer. They have laid their eyes on Alessio Romagnoli. However, Lazio recently made a good offer for him, and he would probably have a more consistent role in the Italian Capital, Corriere dello Sport informs. He is also a well-known Biancocelesti fan.

A possible alternative for the Bianconeri is Olympique Lyonnais’ Jason Denayer, Belgian site Nieuwblad reports. He is on an expiring contract as well. His club has unsuccessfully tried to prolong it in the last few weeks. President Jean-Michel Aulas declared on the matter: “We would like to keep him, and we made our proposal. It is up to him to give us an answer now. It would not be our fault if he left for free.”

According to the publication, Juventus are battling primarily Barcelona and Newcastle in the race to sign the 26-year-old defender. He is pondering leaving Ligue 1 to join a bigger club or accept the Magpies’ courtship. He has not ruled out staying at Olympique Lyonnais, though. His agent also stated that they held some talks with Roma and Napoli.

Juventus have had some depth problems in the back this season. Giorgio Chiellini has routinely spent time on the mend with various physical issues, which has been a trend in the last few years. Moreover, Leonardo Bonucci has been less durable than in the past. If the Bianconeri managed to hold onto Matthijs De Ligt, they would likely only make a move on the fringes in the role.
