Juventus Not Concretely Considering Coaching Change Yet

The Bianconeri jeopardized their chances of advancing past the group stage with the defeat against Benfica. They have won just once in the last seven matches across all competitions. They could have easily lost three times in a row if it wasn’t for a late surge against Salernitana. However, at this stage, Massimiliano Allegri is not at risk of getting the ax from the Juventus management.

As Sky’s correspondent Giovanni Guardalà reports, the gaffer was late talking to the press Wednesday, but it wasn’t because of an emergency summit with the front office. There’s great disappointment within the higher-ups because the squad routinely vanishes too quickly.

Despite the disappointment and tension, the brass isn’t contemplating an immediate dismissal. Juventus invested Allegri with great responsibilities this season, fulfilling every request he made on the transfer market, La Gazzetta dello Sport points out. Bowing out of the Champions League so would be highly detrimental to the finances as well.

Andrea Agnelli handpicked the gaffer, and they are close friends. While he won’t be influenced by the fans, who are clamoring for a coaching change, he’s growing worried because the future of the club is at stake too.

Our Take on Allegri Being Under Fire at Juventus

There are many justifications for the recent horrid showings of the Bianconeri, from fatigue to old and new injuries, from puzzling tactics and lineup choices to poor individual performances. A large part of the blame surely falls on the shoulders of the manager. Still, the Old Lady has never made impulsive decisions and fired anybody mid-season in the Agnelli era. Though, perhaps the lengthy World Cup break will offer the opportunity to do something unprecedented if things don’t improve.
