Juventus Offer Full Support to Fagioli Post Suspension

Juventus have expressed their full support to tainted midfielder Nicolò Fagioli, who has been given a 12-month ban, with five months suspended, and fined €12,500 for betting violations. Fagioli was handed a reduced sentence after he agreed to a plea bargain with the federation, which cites therapy for gambling and betting addiction.

The Bianconeri management has offered the entirety of their support to Fagioli in these challenging times, as relayed by the club in an official statement.

“The Club has taken notice of the official press release from the FIGC n°177/AA and confirms its full support for Nicolò Fagioli in tackling this path, providing the player with the necessary support in carrying out the indicated therapeutic plan and, as expressly provided for in the agreement, collaborating with the Federation to outline the scheduled appointments.”

“We are firmly convinced that Nicolò, with the support of the Club, his teammates, his family and the professionals who will assist him, will face the therapeutic and training process with a great sense of responsibility and, once the disqualification has been served, will be able to return to competing with due serenity.”

Fagioli, who was seen crying on the bench in the clash against Sassuolo, cooperated with authorities in order to receive a greatly reduced ban, which was supposed to be three years for betting violations. It is understood that more Serie A players could be incriminated, with Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo also bearing the brunt of the act.

Fagioli is expected to return back into action for Juventus at the end of the season, for perhaps the final game of the season.
