Juventus on the Brink of Completing Surprise Extension

Juventus are in advanced talks to extend the contract of Nicolò Fagioli despite his seven-month suspension. The signature and the announcement are expected to arrive in short order, Sky Italy informs (via Goal).

The Bianconeri voiced their support for the youngster throughout the betting scandal. They have decided to formally back him with a new deal as well. He’ll add two years to his current one, postponing the expiry date from 2026 to 2028.

Fagioli first joined Juventus in 2017, when he was 16, from the Cremonese’s youth sector. He returned to the Grigiorossi on loan in 2021/2022, flourishing in Serie B and earning a spot in the Bianconeri squad for the ensuing campaign.

The talent has tallied 3 goals and 6 assists in 45 appearances with the Old Lady. He made his lone Azzurri appearance on November 16th, 2022. The midfielder will technically be available for the final game of the season, should Massimiliano Allegri deem him fit enough. He’ll be allowed to practice during his suspension. He has been banned for betting on football games.

Our Take on Juventus and Fagioli

It’s a beau geste that does no harm and benefits both parties. He gets reassurances for the future during tough times, and the club probably enjoys a discount on his salary relative to what it would have been in a normal situation.
