Pau Torres was reportedly an option for Juventus and Napoli, but he won’t transfer to Italy, as he’s on the brink of joining Aston Villa.

Juventus Making Strides in Pursuit of Villarreal Star

Juventus are inching ever closer to signing Villarreal defender Pau Torres, who has long been linked with the Bianconeri. The Spaniard undoubtedly first etched himself into the attention of the Bianconeri management during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie, when he put in a tour de force performance over two legs to knock Juventus out, even scoring in the 3-0 rout at the Allianz Stadium.

The Turin outfit has kept a close eye on him since, and according to Catalan outlet Sport, the 26-year-old’s signature is close to being finalized. Torres has so far maintained his loyalty to the Yellow Submarines, rejecting bumper offers over the course of the past two seasons ever since he emerged in the limelight.

However, with the chance to star at one of Europe’s biggest teams, the enigmatic defender is expected to take strides in a bid to win major trophies. A couple of meetings have reportedly already taken place between Juventus executives and the player’s agency.

Villarreal are very well aware of the fact that they cannot hold onto their prized stopper for long, given his high demand. His contract with the club expires in the summer of 2024.

Torres, who is tagged at €50M, is expected to give his say soon enough, but perhaps not before Juventus’ future in Europe is consolidated.
