Juventus Once Again Linked to Atletico Madrid Star

For the umpteenth window in a row, Juventus are interested in Rodrigo De Paul. He stayed put at Atletico Madrid last summer despite the courtship of a few Saudi clubs. The Bianconeri intend to make one or two moves in January considering Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli’s suspensions.

According to TuttoSport, the Old Lady aims at onboarding him on loan with a conditioned obligation to buy, likely tied to their Champions League qualification. Despite their desire to restore their midfield, they have to operate on a budget. The fact that the wages of the Argentine aren’t too high, €3.5M annually, makes him an attainable target.

It remains to be seen whether Atletico Madrid will sign off on his departure and agree with the formula. The De Paul deal could be unlocked by two other players Juventus are eyeing, Fabian Ruiz and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Colchoneros are keen on them too.

If the Spanish team managed to sign one, they could agree to let go of the World Champion. He has featured 11 times so far, making 5 starts and assisting twice. He has missed about a month due to a thigh injury.

The potential addition of De Paul wouldn’t necessarily prevent Juventus from going after Lazar Samardzic. The prodigy is quickly climbing their shortlist. Their chase also hinges on where Udinese are in the standings. For that reason, the Old Lady might be forced to postpone the signing to the summer.
