Juventus Optimistic About Re-Upping Starlet Contract

Samuel Iling-Junior got hurt right after he broke into the first squad at Juventus, dishing two assists in three appearances off the bench. The starlet is recovering from an ankle sprain, which shouldn’t cost him time past the World Cup break. However, the returns of Federico Chiesa, Angel Di Maria, and Dusan Vlahovic will likely limit his opportunities to play.

According to Calciomercato, the Bianconeri have been engaged in the extension talks with his entourage for a while. The executives of the Old Lady are very optimistic. Though, the competition is fierce and ready to pounce. He could technically sign a pre-contract with another team come January if he didn’t put pen to paper beforehand.

The camp of Iling-Junior, led by agent Franck Trimboli, asked Juventus for reassurance more on the technical side than the economic one. The youngster is willing to stay, but he wants his path to a regular role to be clear.

RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Brighton could offer him a spot in their squads right away. Some top sides, such as Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, or the Premier League powerhouses, are waiting in the wings to see what happens. The Old Lady poached him from Chelsea for €130k in 2020.

Juventus are confident they will strike a deal with Iling-Junior relatively soon, prolonging his stay until 2026. Massimo Brambilla, the coach of their Next Gen team in Serie C, praised the attacker to TuttoSport (via FootballNews24).

“He surprised me too. He has technique and physique. More importantly, he already has the right mentality. The same goes for Matias Soulé: they are both very humble.”
