Juventus fringe star Luca Pellegrini is determined to return to Lazio this summer despite missing out on a permanent deal at the end of last season. According to Calciomercato, the Italian left-back has grown fond of the Stadio Olimpico environment and awaits the Biancocelesti’s approach.
Following an ill-fated six-month loan at Eintracht Frankfurt in the first half of last season, the 24-year-old joined Lazio in January. However, he wasn’t Maurizio Sarri’s regular choice on the left flank, making just seven Serie A appearances, including a single league start.
Despite his relatively underwhelming short-term stint at Lazio, Pellegrini hopes to return to Rome. Juventus have already eliminated him from their future projects. And Massimiliano Allegri’s men are currently working on finding him a new home.
But a rather unimpressive 2022/23 season has deterred potential suitors from pursuing his signature. Bologna and Nice have shown some ambition to sign the Roma youth academy graduate. Yet both sides have yet to come forward with an offer, leaving Pellegrini’s future in the balance.
Lazio could secure the versatile defender an escape route from Juventus. It may take some time, though, as they’re currently embroiled in talks with Chelsea over Callum Hudson-Odoi’s switch to Serie A. Sarri is adamant he wants the 22-year-old to join forces with Ciro Immobile and Valentin Castellanos in his well-knit frontline next season.
