Juventus ended their lengthy search for a new defender with Pierre Kalulu and didn’t pounce on the possibility of signing Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth a few times. They were initially looking for a lefty to pair up with Gleison Bremer. Their first target was Riccardo Calafiori, but Bologna straight-up refused to sell him to them. He eventually transferred to Arsenal. They tracked Jean-Clair Todibo for a long time but were overtaken at the last corner by West Ham, which will pay €40M for him next year.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Bianconeri would have had to shell out €20/22M for the Argentine. It wouldn’t have been far off from what they could end up spending for the former Milan talent. However, the Argentine would have only moved permanently right away, while they obtained an initial loan with an option to buy from the Rossoneri.
That’s part of the reason why Juventus didn’t really pursue Senesi. He had been on the radar of a few Italian clubs before he switched from Feyenoord to the Cherries for a €15M fee in 2022. He has accumulated 64 appearances, 6 goals, and 5 assists in the Premier League.
Federico Gatti has prevailed over Danilo and Kalulu in the early competition to pair up with Bremer, while Juan Cabal has exclusively featured as a left-back.

Perhaps a lefty or somebody really great at handling the ball would have taken their defense to a higher level, but they don’t have much to complain about after their early showings. If all their new offensive weapons hit as big as they hope, they were correct in keeping their resources for them.
