Juventus Piece Together Contract Offer for Expiring Midfielder

Juventus are determined to hold onto Adrien Rabiot, whose contract at the Allianz Stadium expires next month. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has tabled an official bid to extend the Frenchman’s deal.

Juventus have reportedly offered the 29-year-old a two-year contract with an option for a further season worth around €9 million per year, including add-ons. However, Rabiot is still considering his options after penning a short-term extension last summer.

After last summer’s saga, Juventus are all too familiar with Rabiot’s negotiating techniques. His mother-agent, Veronique, has developed a reputation as a troublemaker. Her antics during her son’s time at Paris Saint-Germain are potentially ominous signs for the Bianconeri.

Veronique wants her son to become the highest-paid player at Juventus. That title currently belongs to Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian’s salary will increase to €12m next season. And it’s hard to believe the club would accept such terms.

But Juventus hope to convince their stalwart to pledge his future to Turin by offering him the captain’s armband. Their idea is for Rabiot to succeed Danilo, who’s in the autumn of his playing career. Despite their best efforts, everything’s still in the balance.

As Juventus continue to sweat over Rabiot’s future, an opportunity presents itself to Manchester United. The Red Devils are the France international’s long-term admirers. They even tried to lure him to Old Trafford last summer, albeit to no avail.

Things could change this time. Juventus are facing a race against the clock, and Rabiot remains radio-silent. Meanwhile, Inter are lurking in the shadows.
