Juventus Plan to Hijack Inter Efforts for Roma Stopper Smalling

Roma defender Chris Smalling is being targeted by Juventus and Inter on a free transfer at the end of the season. The Englishman has failed to boil down on contractual terms with the Giallorossi so far, making his exit likely by the summer of 2023.

As per Tuttosport, Juventus are leading Inter in the transfer race, having reportedly initiated first contacts with the English center-back’s entourage. The Bianconeri are keenly monitoring how talks between the Giallorossi management and Smalling turn out.

Roma want to keep hold of Smalling for the near future, as they are willing to propose a two-year extension with a downsized salary than the current €3.5M he earns. The player on the other hand is dissatisfied with the offer.

Inter are also in the picture, having been offered Smalling by his agent James Featherstone. However, it is Juventus who are leading the race backed by coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is said to be an admirer of the stopper’s abilities.
