At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus pulled off another Corto Muso by beating Cagliari with two goals to one. Following a goalless first half, Gleison Bremer broke the deadlock with a clinical header in the second period while Daniele Rugani doubled the lead with a scrappy finish. Alberto Dossena got on the scoring-defenders trend by pulling one back for the visitors, but the Bianconeri held one until the final whistle. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who temporarily sit on top of the Serie A table after beating Cagliari in Round 12.
Wojciech Szczesny – 6
After keeping a clean sheet for more than 600 minutes, the Pole’s run came to a sudden end but there was little he could do on Dossena’s header. But he did well to deny the Cagliari defender on the second occasion with a finger-tip save.
Federico Gatti – 6
The former Frosinone man tried to put his name on the scoresheet like his fellow Juventus defenders but his headers were miscued. Darted forward on some occasions but his passing left much to be desired. Nonetheless, he did well to limit Zito Luvumbo’s danger.
Gleison Bremer – 7.5
A commanding display at the back from the Brazilian who completely nullified Andrea Petagna’s threat. Opened the scoring with a brilliant header following a towering jump.
Daniele Rugani – 7
The former Cagliari defender needed two awkward touches to put the ball in the back of the net, but they all count. Held his ground against Leonardo Pavoletti in the final minutes.
Andrea Cambiaso – 5.5
The former Bologna man didn’t enjoy his best outing on the right flank. Misplaced two shots and couldn’t deliver dangerous crosses to the box.
Weston Mckennie – 6.5
A fine display from the USMNT star who covered every ounce of the pitch. Sprinted back to dispossess Tommaso Augello on one occasion and helped in bringing the ball forward.
Manuel Locatelli – 6
A solid if not spectacular display from the Euro 2020 winner. Struggled to anchor the play with Nicolas Viola pressing him back, but did well to protect the ball.
Fabio Miretti – 6
Last weekend’s Juventus hero had his highs and lows against Cagliari but showcased improvement in the second half. Won the freekick that culminated in the the opener.
Filip Kostic – 6.5
A labored outing from the left winger who dropped deep to assist his teammates at the back in the final stretch. Provided the assist for Bremer’s opener with an exquisite freekick.
Federico Chiesa – 6.5
It wasn’t the Italian’s most amazing performance but he still had his moments. Put Kean through with a brilliant play, won dangerous freekicks and delivered the assist for Rugani’s goal. He also came close to scoring a long-range spectacular volley.
Moise Kean – 5.5
It was an underwhelming outing from the Italian striker who scuffed an inviting chance with a heavy first touch. It appears that his goal drought is getting into his head as he cut a frustrating figure.
Dusan Vlahovic – 6
The Serbian was looking to impress his compatriot Novak Djokovic who was at the stadium. Skipped past two opponents at once before putting Iling-Junior through on goal.
Samuel Iling-Junior – 5.5
The young Englishman played in a more central role than usual but seemed to me stepping on Kostic’s toes at times. Should have done better with the goal in sight, but his shot was too feeble.
Arkadiusz Milik – N/A
Hans Nicolussi Caviglia – N/A
