At the Giovanni Zini Stadium in Cremona, Juventus played their first match of 2023, hosted by Cremonese. While it surely wasn’t their best performance – as they certainly had to run their luck at times – Massimiliano Allegri’s men still managed to extend their winning streak, all while maintaining a seventh clean sheet in a row. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who earned three important points against the courageous Cremonese thanks to Arkadiusz Milik’s late freekick.
Juventus (3-5-1-1)
Wojciech Szczesny – 6
Despite collecting another clean sheet, the Pole looked shaky at first, especially when allowing Emanuele Valeri to score (an eventually disallowed goal) from a lob following an ill-advised exit. Nonetheless, he still pulled off a couple of solid saves.
Federico Gatti – 6.5
Aside from leaving just enough space for Cyriel Dessers to receive the ball and send his shot crashing against the post, the Italian was overall solid at the back, comfortably dealing with David Okereke’s threat.
Gleison Bremer – 6
A mixed bag from the Brazil international who made some important interceptions as well as blunders which almost cost Juventus dearly.
Danilo – 7
The captain was arguably his team’s best performer from start to finish. He put up an impeccable shift at the back marked by some splendid interventions. While he didn’t always surge forward, he put Miretti through on goal with lovely ball.
Matias Soulé – 6.5
An encouraging outing from the young Argentine who was the Old Lady’s most dangerous player in the first half. Cut past his marker to test Matteo Carnesecchi on two occasions.
Weston McKennie – 6
An industrious performance from the USMNT star as ever, but just couldn’t add the smooth technical touch which his side was craving for.
Manuel Locatelli – 6.5
A commanding display from the Euro 2020 winner who shielded the backline and tried to push his teammates forward.
Nicolò Fagioli – 6
Perhaps it wasn’t the most impressive display from the young Italian, but he still had his moments.
Filip Kostic – 6.5
The Serbian ran and down the left lane until he was out of breath. Sent some delicious crosses towards the box, including one for Rabiot, and almost stunned the goalkeeper with a clever shot out seemingly out of nowhere.
Fabio Miretti – 6
Another midfielder who ran hard but found little space against the well-positioned Cremonese players. He still made two decent attempts that could have opened the scoring.
Arkadiusz Milik – 7
While it wasn’t his prettiest performance overall, the former Napoli man emerged as the Juventus hero at the end of the day thanks to a long-range freekick that crept just inside the post.
Substitutes
Federico Chiesa – 6
A decent showing from the recently-returned winger, aside from a gaffe where he neglected the play to demand a whistle from the ref. Stormed into the box on one occasion but couldn’t direct his shot towards goal.
Moise Kean – 6.5
The striker added depth and energy to the final third. Tested Carnesecchi on two occasions and did well to bring the ball forward.
Leandro Paredes – 6
Although his blocked shot following a corner kick had almost gifted Cremonese the win, his presence still allowed Juventus to hold up the ball in the final stages.
Adrien Rabiot – 7
The Frenchman offered timely contribution for the Bianconeri. Could have scored himself but couldn’t make enough contact with the ball. Picked up Kostic with a marvelous through ball and he was the one who earned the freekick which resulted in the winner.
Samuel Iling-Junior – N/A
