Juventus Player Ratings vs Empoli: Danilo & Chiesa Lead The Way

At the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Tuscany, Empoli hosted Juventus in the closing curtain of Serie A Round 3. Danilo put the Old Lady ahead in the middle of the first but Dusan Vlahovic failed to double his side’s lead when he got the chance from the spot. Nevertheless, Federico Chiesa’s late goal sealed a routine win for the visitors in the end. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who earned a deserved 2-0 victory over Empoli before the international break.

Juventus (3-5-2)

Mattia Perin – 5.5

The custodian didn’t have a single save to make. But fumbled a pass in the second half which could have cost Juventus dearly.

Federico Gatti – 7

An impressive display at the back from the former Frosinone man who kept Cambiaghi at bay. He cleverly won the spot kick that Vlahovic wasted.

Gleison Bremer – 6.5

A commanding performance from the Brazilian defender who nullified Ciccio Caputo and won almost every aerial duel. Wrestled his marker off the ball to set up Danilo’s goal.

Danilo – 7.5

Another fine outing from the Juventus captain who opened the scoring with a well-taken low drive. Put on a solid showing at the back too against Tommaso Baldanzi.

Weston McKennie – 6

A hard-working display from the American who did well to retrieve the ball. However, he was wasteful in possession.

Fabio Miretti – 6.5

An encouraging display from the young midfielder who won some duels and drew several fouls from the opposition. But he still has to sharpen his touch. Hooked off for Pogba at the hour mark.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

As always, the former Sassuolo man did well to shield his backline. But Juventus supporters will be expecting some improvement when it comes to ball distribution.

Adrien Rabiot – 6

The Frenchman helped the Bianconeri boss the middle of the park, but his technical touch remains off the mark compared to last season.

Filip Kostic – 5.5

The left winger made his first Juventus appearance of the season but seemed to lack sharpness. Worked hard to retrieve the ball, but his delivery wasn’t on cue as usual.

Federico Chiesa – 7.5

The Euro 2020 winner wasted two one-on-one chances against Berisha including one that he created himself. But it was third time’s the charm for the Italian who skipped past the goalkeeper and was barely able to keep his footing before slotting the ball inside the empty net.

Dusan Vlahovic – 5.5

The former Fiorentina man worked hard for the team but wasn’t provided with sufficient service. Etrit Berisha denied him from the spot as his effort was slightly feeble.

Substitutes

Paul Pogba – 6.5

The Frenchman is noticeably short on fitness, but still has the magical touch as demonstrated by a fabulous volley goal that was disallowed for a previous offside position.

Arkadiusz Milik – 7

A brilliant cameo from the Polish striker who provided a sublime assist for Chiesa and almost scored a header but it rattled the woodwork.

Andrea Cambiaso – 6.5

The Italian proved to be an obvious improvement on Kostic. Productive on the left flank.

Moise Kean – 6.5

A positive short cameo from the Italian striker who helped in creating plays. He was unlucky to see his shot denied by the post.

Timothy Weah – N/A
