Juventus Player Ratings vs Fiorentina: Rabiot Scores in Game of Inches

At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus hosted their arch rivals Fiorentina in a sloppy affair that depicted the two teams’ current league positions. While the players failed to entertain, technology proved to be the ultimate star of the show, making three decisive razor-thin decisions. While Adrien Rabiot’s header was given thanks to goal-line technology, VAR denied Dusan Vlahovic’s goal against his former employers for the most marginal of offside goals, before handing a similar verdict for what would have been a late equalizer from Gaetano Castrovilli. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who secured their third win in a row in all competitions at the expense of Fiorentina.

Juventus (3-4-2-1)

Wojciech Szczesny – 6

The former Roma goalkeeper was untroubled for the entire match, until the final minutes. Couldn’t pull off a save on Castrovilli’s well-taken disallowed equalizer, as a sea of players were blocking his view.

Danilo – 6.5

A solid display as ever from the Juventus captain who absolutely nullified Jonathan Ikoné.

Gleison Bremer – 6.5

Another strong performer at the back for Massimiliano Allegri’s side. Had the better of Christian Kouamé, but eventually left his manager enraged for earning a booking which will rule his out of the upcoming Serie A fixture.

Alex Sandro – 5

The former Porto man is becoming a liability at the back. Struggled against the pace of Nicolas Gonzalez and his blunders almost cost the Bianconeri a goal on a couple of occasions.

Mattia De Sciglio – 6.5

A confident display from the Italian wingback who instigated the goal with a run on the right flank. He also did well to limit Cristiano Birgahi’s danger.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

When it comes to passing, the former Sassuolo man had hits and misses. But he was always a protagonist when it came to shielding his backline. Fought for every ball until the final whistle.

Adrien Rabiot – 7

The Frenchman’s outing started on a terrible note, receiving a booking after 30 seconds. But he gradually grew into the match and headed home the winner for Juventus while helping his team win the midfield battle.

Filip Kostic – 6.5

An impressive display from the Serbian who latched on the loose ball on two occasions, but couldn’t score. His contribution was vital on both ends of the field.

Angel Di Maria – 6.5

While it wasn’t his most spectacular outing, the Argentine veteran still played a decisive hand in the win, providing the assist for Rabiot’s goal with a sublime cross.

Federico Chiesa – 6

The winger picked up Vlahovic with an inviting cross in the first half, which should have been directed goalward. But it was a quiet evening overall for the former Fiorentina man.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6.5

The striker wasted a golden chance in the first half when he failed to anticipate Chiesa’s cross. However, he displayed his marvelous finishing with a clinical touch in the second half, but was harshly ruled out by VAR.

Substitutes

Moise Kean – 5.5

The Italian striker replaced Vlahovic but wasted two chances which could have killed the match.

Nicolò Fagioli – 5.5

We didn’t see much from the birthday boy following his introduction as Juventus were starving for possession at that point. But not a bad outing all things considered.

Leandro Paredes – N/A
