Juventus Player Ratings vs Inter: Bremer Handball Ruins Solid Display

At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus hosted Inter in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. In what was a mostly cagey affair, Juan Cuadrado eventually opened the scoring in the 83rd minute, but Gleison Bremer gave away a penalty kick with a handball just seconds before the end of added time, allowing Romelu Lukaku to convert from the spot. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who had to settle for a first-leg draw against Inter, setting up a fiery return fixture at the Giuseppe Meazza on April 26.

Juventus (3-5-1-1)

Mattia Perin – 6.5

The Italian goalkeeper was always alert, pulling off a couple of impressive saves, and displaying his quick reflex to deny Marcelo Brozovic. He was eventually beaten from the spot by Lukaku.

Federico Gatti – 7

Another strong display from the former Frosinone man who’s growing with every outing. Made some decisive saves, including a late block on a close-range Lukaku shot.

Gleison Bremer – 6

Unfortunately for the Brazilian, he ruined what was a solid display at the back against Edin Dzeko and Lukaku by giving away a last-gasp spot-kick for an extended arm.

Danilo – 6.5

The Juventus captain was both unyielding and confident with the ball at his feet. But perhaps he should start limiting his futile long-range shots

Juan Cuadrado – 7

The Colombian cemented himself as Inter’s ultimate boogeyman by putting yet another well-taken strike past Samir Handanovic. This old rivalry reached its climax with a good old brawl at the final whistle that saw both men earning their marching orders. Sadly for Massimiliano Allegri, his wingback won’t take part in the second leg.

Nicolò Fagioli – 6

It was a good showing from the Juventus youth product who provided Dusan Vlahovic with two sublime crosses, but he eventually left his spot on the pitch to Miretti at the hour mark.

Manuel Locatelli – 6.5

A solid if unspectacular display from the defensive midfielder who did well to shield the backline, even if his passing wasn’t always accurate.

Adrien Rabiot – 7

The Frenchman’s impressive stamina allows him to push in the latter stages while others begin fading. Made some important interventions at the back, and provided the square ball that put Cuadrado through on goal.

Filip Kostic – 5.5

Unlike the two league fixtures against Inter, the Serbian wasn’t decisive for Juventus on this occasion, as his crosses weren’t always on point. Struggled in his duel against Matteo Darmian.

Angel Di Maria – 5.5

The Argentine started on a brilliant note as he came close to opening the scoring in the first minutes, but was denied by Handanovic. Nonetheless, he swiftly ran out of steam and wasn’t able to influence the match.

Dusan Vlahovic – 5.5

The Serbian did well to set up Di Maria’s early chance, but he just seems to lack the killer touch at the moment. Couldn’t direct his two headers towards goal.

Substitutes

Federico Chiesa – 5.5

The Italian added some energy in the final third but gave away the ball cheaply on some occasions while trying to take on his marker.

Fabio Miretti – 6

A positive cameo from the teenager who lent a hand to Juventus on both ends of the pitch.

Arkadiusz Milik – 5.5

The Pole latched onto Cuadrado’s powerful pass but just couldn’t direct his shot goalward.
