Juventus Player Ratings vs Nantes: Di Maria Reigns Supreme

After settling for a draw at home, Juventus traveled to France to take on Nantes in the second leg of the Europa League playoff round. Thankfully for Massimiliano Allegri, Angel Di Maria was in exhilarating form, leading the way towards the next round with a personal hattrick, including a stunning opener. The Ligue 1 side had no answer for the Bianconeri’s dominance, especially following Nicolas Pallois’ early dismissal. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who booked their spot in the Round of 16 with a 3-0 win over Nantes away from home.

Juventus (3-5-1-1)

Wojciech Szczesny – 6.5

It was a mostly quiet evening for the former Roma man but Nantes eventually came to life in the last stages, forcing a few solid saves.

Danilo – 6

A few nervy moments from the stand-in captain when on the ball, but was mostly untroubled throughout the course of the match.

Gleison Bremer – 6.5

A commanding display from the former Torino man who comfortably dealt with the French opposition.

Alex Sandro – 6

A mixed bag from the Brazilian. On one hand, he had his blunders, including intercepting his own teammate in front of goal, but on the other hand, he made some vital interventions at the back.

Mattia De Sciglio – 5.5

It wasn’t a spectacular display from the former Milan, and it’s not as if his services were truly required in the attacking phase. But still, he could have made himself more fruitful on the ball.

Nicolò Fagioli – 7

An impressive outing from the young midfielder who made himself involved in the buildup. Pounced on the loose ball to deliver the assist for Di Maria’s first goal.

Manuel Locatelli – 6.5

A calm and composed outing from the Euro 2020 winner who’s getting increasingly accustomed to the Regista role. He also tried to put his name on the scoresheet but to no avail.

Adrien Rabiot – 7

A solid performance from the Frenchman against his compatriots. Bossed the middle of the park with his physicality and connected brilliantly with Di Maria.

Filip Kostic – 6.5

The Serbian started slowly but his level grew with the match. He was denied by the post in the first half and tried to pick up his teammates with his customary crosses from the left.

Angel Di Maria – 9

A simply outstanding performance from the hattrick hero. Broke the deadlock with a jaw-dropping curler before prompting a penalty kick plus a red card for the opposition. Completed the routing with an uncharacteristic header and was the main author behind the vast majority of the Old Lady’s chances.

Moise Kean – 5

The Italian was the weakest link in the Juventus lineup. Failed to position himself in the right place to pounce on his side’s dominance.

Substitutes

Juan Cuadrado – 5.5

The Colombian displayed some encouraging signs early on but wasted a good chance to score and then earned a needless booking which could return to haunt him in the upcoming stages.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6

A positive cameo from the Serbian who proved to be an upgrade on Kean. Contributed to the awkward third Juventus goal.

Samuel Iling-Junior – N/A

Leonardo Bonucci – N/A

Leandro Paredes –
