Juventus Player Ratings vs Napoli: Bremer Horror-Show at the Maradona

On Friday night, the crowds at the Maradona Stadium witnessed a historic evening as Napoli pummeled the shell-shocked Juventus with five goals to one. While the Serie A leaders continue their charge towards their first Scudetto trophy in three decades, Max Allegri’s men were left to pick up the pieces from a devastating defeat. So here are our player ratings for an under-par Juventus who saw their winning streak crash at Napoli in the most humiliating of manners.

Juventus (3-5-1-1)

Wojciech Szczesny – 5.5

The Polish custodian pulled off a solid save on Kvaratskhelia but could do nothing on Osimhen’s rebound. Perhaps he should have made a better effort on the second goal, but was blameless for the rest

Danilo – 5

To his credit, the Juventus captain made a couple of decent interceptions against Kvara, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a poor display. Earned a needless booking early on, forcing him to act cautiously.

Gleison Bremer – 4

A night to forget for the former Torino defender who was always second to the ball in his battle with Osimhen. His blunders directly led to Napoli’s second and fourth goals.

 Alex Sandro – 4.5

Another Brazilian defender who struggled to cope with the Partenopei’s pacey attackers. Couldn’t help his team muster any sort of play from the back.

Federico Chiesa – 5

The Euro 2020 winner isn’t a wingback, and it showed at the Maradona, especially when failing to track drown Kvaratskhelia on the first two goals. Had some positive moments on the opposite end of the pitch, but they were too few and far between.

Weston McKennie – 4.5

The American somehow managed to stay on the pitch for the duration of the match despite his abysmal performance. His passing was poor and he seemingly gave up in the last stretch of the match.

Manuel Locatelli – 5.5

The former Sassuolo man wasn’t at his sharpest, but at least he was able to support his teammates at the back and keep Juventus in striking distance. The Bianconeri completely faltered following his exit due to a facial injury.

Adrien Rabiot – 5

A disappointing showing from the World Cup finalist who looked particularly slowly when on the ball.

Filip Kostic – 4.5

A frustrating evening from the Serbian winger who couldn’t find a way past Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Played in an increasingly deep position as the match progressed, and it proved to be another miscalculation from Allegri’s part.

Angel Di Maria – 6.5

The Argentine veteran was easily the best Juventus player on the pitch. Hit the woodwork from with a long-range effort before scoring his team’s solitary goal from a play which he instigated. However, his energy level dropped in the second half.

Arkadiusz Milik – 5.5

This wasn’t the return to Naples that the striker was hoping for. Tested Alex Meret with a header and set up Di Maria’s goal with a simple assist. But it remains an underwhelming outing.

Substitutes

Moise Kean – 5.5

The Italian replaced Milik but hardly proved to be an upgrade on the Pole. Fought hard for the ball but his touch abandoned him on most occasions.

Leandro Paredes – 5

The Argentine was chasing shadows in the middle of the park. Tried to add some flow to Juventus plays but to no avail.

Fabio Miretti – N/A

Samuel Iling-Junior – N/A

Matias Soulé – N/A
