Juventus Player Ratings vs Roma: New Signings Still Warming Up

The Allianz Stadium in Turin hosted the third major clash of the Serie A weekend. But while Inter vs Atalanta and Lazio vs Milan yielded four goals each, this one failed to follow suit, with the two clubs playing out a cagey goalless draw. The Bianconeri flashed their new guns in the second half, but couldn’t find the breakthrough. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who settled for a 0-0 draw against their visitors Roma.

Juventus (4-2-3-1)

Michele Di Gregorio – 6

The Italian shot-stopper collected his third clean on the trot since signing for Juventus, even though he’s yet to produce a spectacular save. He was left stranded for Angelino’s shot, but was lucky to see the ball whistle past the post.

Nicolò Savona – 7

The young right-back once again showed why he’s so highly regarded by Thiago Motta. Kept Alexis Saelemaekers and Nicola Zalewski at bay, while trying to support his teammates in attack.

Federico Gatti – 6.5

A solid showing from the stand-in captain who kept Artem Dovbyk quiet while also displaying his ability to dart forward with the ball.

Gleison Bremer – 6.5

Another composed display from the former Torino man who was first to almost every ball and prevailed in every aerial duel.

Juan Cabal – 6

Not a bad performance by any means from the Colombian, but he didn’t offer much on the attacking phase. Motta decided to replace him at half-time to make way for more attacking-minded players with Cambiaso switching to left-back.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

A hardworking shift from the former Sassuolo man who played in a rather deep position. Held his own against Lorenzo Pellegrini, but wasn’t too effective when in possession.

Nicolò Fagioli – 5.5

It wasn’t the Italy international’s most convincing display, and was pehaps impeded by an early yellow card.

Andrea Cambiaso – 6.5

The former Genoa man deserves an extra point for his versatility. Started the match as a right winger while occasionally switching to the attacking-midfielder role. After the break, he moved to his original left-back position all while remaining comfortable and generous. Motta’s ultimate utility man.

Kenan Yildiz – 6

The young Turk had some flashes of brilliance, but wasn’t able to inflict the damage against Roma’s robust defenses.

Samuel Mbangula – 5.5

An underwhelming outing from the Juventus youngster, especially compared to his previous two marvelous displays. Couldn’t make quite an impact on the left flank and wasted a promising counterattack.

Dusan Vlahovic – 5.5

The Serbian had a shot on target late in the first half, but it lacked the power to trouble his compatriot Mile Svilar. He was hasty and wasteful with the ball on several occasions.

Substitutes

Teun Koopmeiners – 6

The former Atalanta man was eager to make an impact following his well-illustrated transfer, and immediately cemented himself as the new Juventus technical leader. But perhaps tried too much when he could have kept it simple.

Francisco Conceicao – 6.5

The young Portuguese will almost certainly become a fan-favorite at the Allianz Stadium thanks to his dazzling dribbling skills. Set the right flank ablaze, but just lacked the final touch.

Weston McKennie – 5.5

The American did well to retrieve the ball, but his touch was heavy at times, killing off several slick passing moves.

Douglas Luiz – 6.5

The Brazilian displayed his brilliant technical skills while providing good support in the defensive phase. He will become a regular Juventus starter sooner rather than later.

Nicolas Gonzalez – N/A
