Juventus Player Ratings vs Sevilla: Italians Ousted Despite Szczesny Heroics

At the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in Andalusia, Sevilla hosted Juventus in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final. Dusan Vlahovic gave the Italians the lead immediately following his second-half introduction, but former Serie A stars Suso and Erik Lamela turned the result upside-down. The ex-Milan star equalized with a fabulous long-range shot while the former Roma winger secured the extra-time winner with a clever header. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who have been eliminated from the tournament following a 2-3 defeat on aggregate against Sevilla.

Juventus (3-5-1-1)

Wojciech Szczesny – 8

A stunning showing from the former Arsenal man who pulled off at least five exceptional saves. He didn’t have a good view on the first goal, and could do very little about the second.

Federico Gatti – 6.5

A strong showing at the back from the former Frosinone defender who made a string of vital blocks. Was reduced to tears at the final whistle.

Gleison Bremer – 7

The Brazilian absolutely dominated Youssef En-Nesyri from start to finish. He was always present to make a timely contribution.

Danilo – 6

The Juventus captain was at times wasteful on the ball, but still played an important role at the back.

Juan Cuadrado – 5.5

This wasn’t one of the Colombian’s best displays. Repeatedly lost possession in extremely dangerous areas and his challenge on Bryan Gil arguably deserved a penalty kick

Nicolò Fagioli – 6.5

The young Italian was enjoying a positive outing but his evening ended early due to a rough challenge from Nemanja Gudelj. His contribution was felt on both ends of the pitch, and so was his absence.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

A courageous display from the Euro 2020 winner who valiantly shielded the backline, although he couldn’t block Suso’s shot that led to the equalizer.

Adrien Rabiot – 6.5

The Frenchman didn’t deserve to end on the losing side. Worked tirelessly for 120 minutes, retrieving the ball on countless occasions. Put Di Maria through on goal with an exquisite pass, but could have done better in front of goal.

Samuel Iling-Junior – 6

The young Englishman worked hard throughout the match and constantly tracked back for defensive duties. However. he offered very little going forward.

Angel Di Maria – 5

A forgettable European evening for the Argentine veteran who failed to inspire. Lost the ball cheaply and wasted a golden scoring opportunity with a baffling finish.

Moise Kean – 6.5

An encouraging display from the Italian striker who almost scored but was denied by the post. He also set up Rabiot brilliantly and linked well with his teammates.

Substitutes

Leandro Paredes – 5.5

The World Cup winner couldn’t prevent Suso’s goal with his sliding tackle while his long-range passing was mild at best.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6.5

The Serbian swiftly put Juventus in the lead with a cheeky chip, but couldn’t replicate his exploits in front of goal.

Federico Chiesa – 4

The Italian gave away the ball that led to Sevilla’s equalizer. Will be kicking himself for failing to score two inviting chances.

Filip Kostic – 5.5

The Serbian added energy on the left flank but saw little of the ball.

Fabio Miretti – 5

A weak showing from the Juventus youth product who failed to impress with the ball at his feet.

Arkadiusz Milik – N/A
