Juventus Player Ratings vs Udinese: Impressive Debut for Cambiaso

At the Dacia Arena in Friuli, Juventus started their Serie A campaign with an empathic win over Udinese. Federico Chiesa broke the deadlock in the second minute and Dusan Vlahovic doubled the score from the spot. Adrien Rabiot nodded home the third before the interval, allowing Massimiliano Allegri’s men to comfortably sail towards victory following a less eventful second period. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who kicked off their season on the right foot, breezing past Udinese with three unanswered goals.

Juventus (3-5-2)

Wojciech Szczesny – 8

The Pole pulled off a couple of saves in the first half, but his Juventus teammates truly made him work for his clean sheet in the second period. Delivered some brilliant stops and ate a ball in the face as a reward.

Danilo – 6

A Confident display at the back from the new Juventus captain, but it was marred by a questionable yellow card for a sliding tackle.

Gleison Bremer – 7

The Brazilian had the better of Beto and Lorenzo Lucca. keeping both strikers as quiet as possible.

Alex Sandro – 6

The former Porto man remains the weakest link at the back for the Old Lady. Earned a yellow card for stopping a swift Udinese attack. However, he was the one who won the spot kick converted by Vlahovic.

Timothy Weah – 6

A positive Serie A debut from the USMNT star, although it lacked a major highlight. Worked hard on the right flank and connected decently with his teammates before leaving the pitch at halftime, perhaps with a knock.

Fabio Miretti – 6

An impressive 45 minutes from the dynamic midfielder who was all over the pitch for as long as he lasted. But he still needs to improve his final touch, especially when he finds himself in promising positions.

Manuel Locatelli – 6.5

A solid if not spectacular display from the former Sassuolo man who bossed the middle of the park, asserting his authority over the likes of Wallace and Sandi Lovric while shielding the backline.

Adrien Rabiot – 7

The Frenchman isn’t even 100% following a recent injury but still had the engine to run for 90+ minutes. His pressing culminated in the opening goal, and he headed home the third after launching the play himself.

Andrea Cambiaso – 7.5

A brilliant Juventus debut from the unorthodox wingback who constantly shifted positions, allowing Chiesa to drift to the left. Assisted Rabiot for the third goal with a sensational cross.

Federico Chiesa – 7.5

The Euro 2020 winner got off the mark after a minute with a nice low drive from the edge of the box. He also picked up Cambiaso with a cheeky backheel ahead of the third goal.

Dusan Vlahovic – 7

The Serbian seemed determined to put last season’s troubles behind him. While it wasn’t the most splendid of displays, he left the pitch with an assist and a goal to his name – albeit from a spot kick – in addition to a disallowed goal.

Substitutes

Nicolò Fagioli – 5.5

The former Frosinone man has just returned from a collarbone injury and is obviously still far from his optimal physical shape. It wasn’t his most influential display and understandably so.

Weston McKennie – 5.5

The American replaced his compatriot Weah on the right flank but didn’t quite offer much on the offensive phase.

Samuel Iling-Junior – 6

The young Englishman made a decent impact upon his entry. Provided a lovely assist for Vlahovic but turned out to be in an offside position.

Arkadiusz Milik – N/A

Kenan Yildiz – N/A
