Juventus loanee Matias Soule has singled out Cristiano Ronaldo as the leading reason behind his decision to join Binaconeri. Before moving to Europe in 2021, the Velez Sarsfield youth academy graduate had received numerous offers from top clubs.
However, Ronaldo’s spell at Juventus at the time convinced the prodigious winger to choose Turin over other attractive destinations.
“There were other teams like Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Benfica,” the left-footed forward said in his interview with ESPN via Calciomercato. “But I chose Juve for the history. At the time, there was Cristiano Ronaldo. So it was an easy choice.“
A lack of regular first-team football convinced Soule to leave Juventus on loan last summer. He joined Serie A newcomers Frosinone and has become one of the hottest prospects in Italian football during his maiden campaign at Benito Stirpe.
Juventus will welcome their whizz-kid back at the end of the season. Given Bianconeri’s dreadful attacking exploits, Soule’s comeback could be just what the doctor ordered despite the club’s interest in Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood.
But if Soule continues his incredible form at the Allianz Stadium, it’d be only a matter of time before European heavyweights come knocking on the Turin giants’ door. Among those could be Real Madrid, a side the Argentine prodigy sees as a potential pinnacle of his career.
“A great dream would be to play for Real Madrid. I always thought about it when I was a child, and also about winning the Champions League,” the Juventus youngster said.
