Juventus Pursuit of Top Serie A Winger Suffers Massive Blow

Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Carnevali has landed a fatal transfer blow on Juventus by withdrawing Domenico Berardi from the market. In his latest interview, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the Neroverdi chief executive delivered an update on the winger’s future.

Unfortunately for Juventus, it wasn’t what they would want to hear. Carnevali categorically denied the possibility of letting his standout performer join forces with Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the final days of the transfer window.

Despite admitting his willingness to negotiate the 29-year-old’s switch to Turin, Carnevali put the blame on Juventus for failing to meet the deadline. As it looks, the record-time Serie A champions took too much time to draw up an offer. And Sassuolo are about to make them pay.

Berardi won’t be sold to Juventus. Deadline was on August 17, but [Cristiano] Giuntoli has never sent any formal bid. I’m not happy with that,” Carnevali said, as relayed by Romano.

We wanted to make it happen, but Juve disappeared. Berardi is no longer for sale,” he maintained.

Sassuolo’s rejection is the latest in a series of bad beats Juventus have suffered this summer. Despite Allegeri’s utter desire to add quality and depth to his squad, the Allianz Stadium hierarchy couldn’t provide.

Since acquiring Timothy Weah early in the summer, Juventus have turned on a stealth mood. A long-running saga involving Romelu Lukaku’s move to Turin is also dead in the water. Time is ticking, and Allegri might have to settle for the current attacking options.
