Juventus Ready to Pounce For PSG Fringe Star Leandro Paredes

Paris Saint-Germain misfit Leandro Paredes could reportedly be heading back to Serie A this summer to link up with Juventus. According to Calciomercato, the Argentine midfielder has popped up on Massimiliano Allegri’s shortlist amid the Italian’s search for a new deep-lying playmaker.

Chelsea midfield stalwart Jorginho has been one of Allegri’s preferred choices to reinforce his squad. However, the Italy international will seemingly stay at Stamford Bridge as Thomas Tuchel intends to rely on him next season.

Juventus have recently been offered the chance to sign Arsenal outcast Lucas Torreira. Despite the Uruguayan’s decent loan spell at Fiorentina last season, the Bianconeri have turned him down. In the meantime, Paredes could be available in a cut-price deal.

Paris paid Zenit St Petersburg an initial €40m to land the 28-year-old in 2019. But he has no place in Christophe Galtier’s plans for next season. The new Paris boss called the Argentine up for his side’s Asian Tour yet refused to give him a single minute in two matches.

With two years left to run on his contract, Paredes could be forced to leave Paris this summer to help the club recoup funds invested in him three years ago. After capturing the services of Angel Di Maria on a free transfer, Juventus are ready to bring in his compatriot.

Di Maria could be Juve’s trump card in negotiations with Paredes. The two boast a friendly relationship, having spent the summer holidays together in Ibiza. And Juventus plan to use their friendship as a bargaining chip to take the ex-Roma star back to Serie A.
