Juventus Set Sights on Germany Euro 2020 Hero

Juventus have added in-form Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens to their summer wishlist following the player’s remarkable display against Portugal at Euro 2020. As reported by several Italian sources, the Bianconeri are ready to challenge Barcelona and Inter for the 26-year-old’s signature.

Gosens have been an always-present figure for Atalanta since arriving from Heracles in 2017. The attacking-minded left-back had a stellar 2020/21 campaign in Bergamo, tallying 12 goals and eight assists from 44 appearances in all competitions.

Gosens, who has hit his career pinnacle under Gian Piero Gasperini, has rightfully earned his place in Joachim Low’s Euro 2020 squad. Though many saw him as a rotation player ahead of the tournament, he has turned into one of Germany’s headline performers this summer.

After succumbing to a 1-0 loss to France in their Group of Death opener, Die Mannschaft needed a hero against Portugal on Matchday 2, and Gosens came up big. The 26-year-old created Nelson Semedo all sorts of problems and masterminded Germany’s overwhelming 4-2 triumph on Saturday.

Ruben Dias first turned Gosens’ first-time cross into his own net before the Atalanta star provided a delightful assist to Kai Havertz. Midway through the second half, the German left-back headed home Joshua Kimmich’s cross to crown his jaw-dropping display and earn standing ovations at the Allianz Arena.

Gosens’ memorable performance against the reigning European champions has drawn plenty of attention from across Europe. In addition to Juventus, Inter and Barcelona are also in the race for acquiring his signature, with Atalanta looking to cash in on their talisman’s departure.

La Dea had initially slapped a substantial €40million price tag on Gosens’ head before Euro 2020 but are now understood to be asking for an additional €10m to sanction the deal. The sought-after full-back has made a name for himself playing in a 3-5-2 formation, which is a perfect fit for Massimiliano Allegri’s system.

The Bianconeri are reportedly considering severing ties with Alex Sandro, who has ended up on Chelsea’s shortlist. If the Brazilian defender leaves Turin this summer, the Serie A heavyweights are likely to launch a bid for Gosens.
