Juventus Set Sights on Top-Class Premier League Striker

Juventus have reportedly placed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku on top of their shopping list as Massimiliano Allegri looks to address his side’s scoring problems. According to TUTTOmercatoWEB, the record-time Italian champions are ready to pounce for the former Inter star, who, at this point, has no intention of joining the Bianconeri

Juventus have been in the market for a new striker to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s blockbuster return to Manchester United in the summer. After bringing Moise Kean back from Everton in the final days of the summer, the Turin heavyweights are seeking a more sustainable solution to carry the team back to their former heights.

Like his attacking companion Alvaro Morata, Kean has failed to live up to expectations at the Allianz Stadium this term. With both strikers performing well below the high standards set by Ronaldo, Juventus have netted a paltry average of 1.42 goals per Serie A match this season. Despite their scoring woes, the Bianconeri are fifth in the standings, only four points adrift of fourth-placed Atalanta.

While the team’s main goal for this term remains securing Champions League football for next season, Allegri is already piecing together the plan to strengthen the squad in the summer. Landing a prolific scorer tops the Italian’s wishlist as he considers putting together a sizeable bid to bring Lukaku back to Serie A.

The Belgian striker helped Inter lift the Scudetto last season before departing the Giuseppe Meazza for a big-money return to Chelsea in the summer. Though he has occasionally shown flashes of his brilliance in the Premier League this term, the 28-year-old is said to be unhappy with his life at Stamford Bridge.

However, he is also understood to be reluctant to join Juventus following his illustrious spell at Inter. In addition to Lukaku, the Bianconeri are also exploring the possibility of tempting Paris Saint-Germain into selling Mauro Icardi this winter.
