Juventus Set to Beat Out the Competition for Genoa Starlet

Juventus are nearing an agreement with Genoa to acquire Nicolò Rovella, who will then stay at the Grifone on loan, as first reported by Gazzetta dello Sport and Goal.com. The 19-year-old midfielder, who was on an expiring contract, will have be evaluated €10M and will ink a five-year deal with the Turin side. The final details will be ironed out in a meeting between the two clubs, as Rovella may be loaned back for 18 months and prospect Manolo Portanova could be included in the deal.

Rovella, who has been highly touted at the youth level for a couple of years, debuted in Serie A in December of 2019 and has featured seven times in the current season, with a streak of five consecutive starts between October and November, before Genoa went back to their veterans once they found themselves in a hole in the standings. It is the same type of operation Juventus completed regarding Cristian Romero, who was then sold to Atalanta, and more recently with Dejan Kulusevski.

While one midfielder is about to join, another one is on his way out, as Sami Khedira has been allowed to travel to England to personally look for his new team. The latest rumours lead to Everton as Carlo Ancelotti already coached him at Real Madrid. Khedira has been frozen out of the squad this season after refusing to leave in the previous window and Juventus are eager to clear his €6M salary off the books.
