Juventus Set to Miss Out On Benfica Wingback Alex Grimaldo

A Benfica staple since the latter half of the previous decade, Alex Grimaldo might just be on the verge of leaving the Portuguese giants at the end of the season. The Spanish left-back, who is a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia youth system, has several suitors across Europe, including Juventus.

However, the Bianconeri could miss out on the 27-year-old’s signature, given their current financial predicament. According to English outlet Football Insider (via TuttoJuve), the player has been approached by hoards of Premier League outfits – Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Leeds United.

There is also lingering interest from Serie A heavyweights Inter, but it is the presence of Real Madrid that threatens all other candidates.

Despite graduating from Barcelona, Grimaldo is not shy of moving to the Clasico rivals, and perhaps more so given the fact that Los Blancos have eyed him concretely.

His contract with Benfica expires at the end of the season, and so far, there have been no positive renewal talks between the two parties. Valencia-born Grimaldo has 24 goals in 287 appearances for the Eagles.
