Juventus Set to Rival Atalanta for Hellas Verona Ace

Hellas Verona midfielder Tomas Suslov could be the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Serie A giants Atalanta and Juventus. According to L’Arena via TMW, the former Groningen ace is desperate to leave the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to compete in the Champions League next season.

Atalanta and Juventus can provide such an opportunity. Both teams secured qualification for Europe’s elite club competition last term. And more importantly, both have been active in the summer transfer window, showing genuine ambition to strengthen their squads ahead of 2024/25.

After finalizing the arrival of Douglas Luiz and Michele Di Gregorio, Juventus are on the cusp of landing Khephren Thuram. New manager Thiago Motta remains keen on Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners. But the Dutchman could be out of reach, forcing the Biaonnceri to consider other midfield options.

Juventus will likely lose Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer. And Motta sees Suslov as a decent solution to fill the void. The 22-year-old moved to Serie A last summer and enjoyed a stellar maiden season at Verona. He collected three goals and five assists from 32 league appearances last year.

Suslov’s rise to stardom hasn’t gone unnoticed. Yet, Juventus and Atalanta would probably need to inject around €12-15 into Verona’s coffers to sign the Czech Republic international. But as stressed by Verona sporting direction Sean Sogliano, the club is in ‘no hurry’ to sell their in-demand midfielder.

His contract at the Bentegodi expires in 2027. Yet, if the player wants to leave for either Atalanta or Juventus, Verona would likely have to succumb to the pressure.
