Juventus Set to Rival Inter for Top Serie A Forward

Inter’s indecisive pursuit of Genoa talisman Albert Gudmundsson could return to haunt them after Juventus joined the frame in recent days. As per Gianluca Di Marzio, the record-time Italian champions are lining up a tangible bid for the sought-after 26-year-old forward.
Gudmundsson has been on Inter’s radar since the start of the summer. However, they’ve been unable to free up space for the Iceland international. Simone Inzaghi’s men are still trying to offload Valentin Carboni, Joaquin Correa, and Marko Arnautovic.
Only then would Inter have enough room and cash to launch an assault on Gudmundsson. But as their outgoing dealings ominously continue to stutter, Juventus look in pole position to snatch away the former AZ Alkmaar star.
Unlike Inter, Juventus have got their recruitment program off to a flying start. Douglas Luiz, Khephren Thuram, and Michele Di Gregorio have landed in Turin. Next on Cristiano Giuntoli’s ambitious list is a new forward. Thiago Motta wants to overhaul his attacking options this summer.
Juventus have already put Federico Chiesa and Matias Soule up for sale. They even consider a far-fetched swap deal involving Napoli’s Giacomo Raspadori. But that’s unlikely to happen. Therefore, they’ve added Gudmundsson to the list.
As is often the case in Italian football, Juventus eye up a loan deal for the standout Genoa performer. They’d reportedly offer the Griffins €10 million to borrow Gudmundsson for one season with a purchase option set at an additional €15m. That’s a carbon copy of Inter’s proposal.
