Juventus Shockingly Call Off Adeyemi Pursuit

In a shocking turn of events, Serie A giants Juventus have walked away from talks with Borussia Dortmund for Karim Adeyemi. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga side’s substantial demands have blown the Italian powerhouse out of the water.

The deal is now ‘off’ despite Adeyemi’s desire to join forces with Thiago Motta’s squad. Juventus and the German prodigy have already agreed on personal terms, with the former RB Salzburg forward reportedly accepting a five-year contract at the Allianz Stadium worth €3.5m net per season plus add-ons.

However, Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin keeps Adeyemi in high regard and sees him as a valuable first-team asset. Therefore, the beaten Champions League finalists would only let their quicksilver forward leave for an astronomical offer. Juventus had been willing to table a bid in the region of €35m plus €10m in bonuses.

After being informed that such a proposal wouldn’t do the trick, Juventus decided against pursuing the signature of the 22-year-old. With the Adeyemi track seemingly dead in the water, Bianconeri sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has switched his attention elsewhere. More precisely, he’s keen on Fiorentina ace Nicolas Gonzalez.

Recently linked with a move to Atalanta, Gonzalez could leave Tuscany in the coming weeks due to La Viola’s well-documented inability to win trophies. Despite his significance to Fiorentina, the Argentine star is a more attainable target than Adeyemi, even though Juventus would need to beat Gian Piero Gasperini’s team to secure his services.
