Juventus are hunting for fullbacks and have laid eyes on Yan Couto and Nicolas Tagliafico. The former had a very solid season at Girona while on loan from Manchester City. Instead, the latter is likely to leave Olympique Lyonnais, DAZN’s Orazio Accomando reports (via Blasting News).
The 21-year-old has logged 2 goals and 10 assists in La Liga and Copa del Rey this campaign. He has spent two years in La Liga and one in Portugal with Braga after the Citizens acquired for €6M from Coritiba in 2020. His contract is up in 2025. He has three caps with Brazil.
Couto is the second right-back linked to Juventus after Giovanni Di Lorenzo, while the Bianconeri have earmarked Tagliafico as they might need another option on top of Andrea Cambiaso on the other wing. Alex Sandro will leave, and Filip Kostic and Samuel Iling-Junior are more offensive-minded.
The veteran moved to Ligue 1 in 2022 after a great run at Ajax. He’s been a regular for Argentina in the last few years, including in the 2022 World Cup.
Our Take on Juventus, Couto, Tagliafico
The switch to a four-man defense will inevitably require some adjustments. They might even need two right-backs depending on how Thiago Motta sees Danilo, who might be a little too over the hill to return to the flank, and Timothy Weah, who did it in France but whose defensive skills were a bit suspect this year. They also have some interesting prospects on loan and in the Next Gen who could serve as backups initially.
