Juventus Signing Paredes Rejected Arsenal to Honor New Deal

Juventus have all but confirmed the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain outcast Leandro Paredes. The Argentine international arrives in Turin on a loan deal with an option to buy – amounting to €15M plus €5M in add-ons and bonuses. The move can become an obligation to purchase if certain personal and team goals are met.

After a transfer saga that extended over the summer, a deal was finally struck between the two clubs. However, it is understood, as per reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), that the Bianconeri weren’t the only suitors sniffing around for the Argentine’s signature. Premier League giants Arsenal were rejected in the last minute, mainly because Paredes had committed to joining Juventus.

Medical tests are already scheduled to take place on Wednesday in Paris before he will travel to Turin to sign his new contract. His departure from Paris Saint-Germain allowed the French champions to sign Fabian Ruiz from Napoli.

He will not be at Massimiliano Allegri’s disposal for the clash against Spezia but will most certainly be included in the squad as they take on Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi over the weekend.
